Woolaf was "the" dog that started it all off for Karyn. Although initially bought as a pet, Karyn was persuaded by his breeder to try her hand at showing this fine
young boy. At his first ever show, as an 11+ month old puppy, Woolaf won Best Puppy in Breed and Best of Breed, over some nice current-winning dogs, handled by his novice owner. Several
shows & wins later, Karyn was hooked. Woolaf & Karyn learned the ropes together & this dog had both the aptitude and the attitude to carry him to the top. At home he was definitely "Mummy's
boy" and was the best tutor, friend and companion anyone could wish for.
During his career as a show dog, Woolaf won many BOB wins at championship shows
and two (2) BIS wins at the UK Alaskan Malamute Club's annual show (very similar to the National Specialty in Canada), once as a young dog of only 18 months of age, and later as a mature
dog. He was also the top winning male Malamute in the UK in 1991 (Dog World points system based on Championship show Group, BOB and BOS wins). At the time when Woolaf was out "strutting his
stuff" (late 1980's and early 1990's) the Alaskan Malamute was considered a "Rare Breed" in the UK and so there were no UK champion Malamutes.
